What are the most popular plants?
There are countless options both in individual plant choice and the ways they can be combined, but there are several varieties that, we believe, are both aesthetically pleasing and highly beneficial in improving air quality. Both of these qualities are most often found with spathiphyllum, fig trees, dracaena and dieffenbachia, which you can read more about below.
Spathiphyllum
A plant with long, dark green leaves and white flowers which helps purify the air from pollution caused by cleaning products and construction work. Through its leaves, spathiphyllum absorbs and purifies furniture paint and varnish, cleaning products and cigarette smoke. This plant is also easy to take care of and does not need much attention.
Ficus Elastica
This rubber fig with large burgundy leaves originates in India. It loves light, so it is suitable for bright rooms and feels best in the summer. The large leaves are able to absorb a large amount of air pollution, making it one of the most effective plants for air purifying purposes. It effectively absorbs the carbon dioxide in the air and converts it to oxygen, and looks good in both vibrant and minimalist interiors.
Dracaena
A very easy plant to look after which has over 120 varieties. This is one of the fastest-growing indoor plants, and in some years it can grow to more than 2 metres. Dracaenas are good at absorbing benzol, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene. For example, the Dracaena marginata or dragon tree is a good absorber of the heavy metals which are present in the air due to vehicle fumes.
Dieffenbachia
A plant originating in the tropics which thrives in light places, even in direct sunlight. This plant needs humid air, so we recommend misting the leaves regularly with water. The plant’s large leaves are particularly effective at absorbing formaldehyde. It fights indoor air pollution from paper towels, bin bags, textiles, carpet backing and floor coverings. Dieffenbachia is useful in rooms with air conditioning, and it is an effective air humidifier.
