Plant maintenance based on the season
Greenery maintenance is dependent largely on not only the specifics of each plant, but also on the weather conditions. To ensure that your plants bloom and thrive, we—garden and plant maintenance specialists—must be able to adapt to them.
Spring
In the spring, plants must be prepared for new greenery, the garden should be tidied, mulched and other jobs. Spring is a suitable time for creating a tree canopy and pruning trees, which can be done until buds appear (in our climate, normally March and April). In spring, we plant annual and perennial flowers, as well as fertilising and lawn aeration to ensure that it grows strong, thick and vibrant.
Summer
During the summer months, the most important thing is systematic garden maintenance: regular watering and weeding. If necessary, the garden should be rid of pests: greenflies, mole crickets, snails, cabbage whites and red spider mites. Plants are usually watered early in the morning or late at night, when there is no direct, bright sunlight, otherwise it will do the plants more damage than good.
Autumn
Autumn is the best time to plant trees and bushes. This is also the time to start thinking about overwintering those plants which do not stand up to frost. Of course, one of the most time-consuming autumn jobs is raking fallen leaves, which is important for keeping your garden tidy.
Hercs Dārzs’ team of specialists will ensure that all maintenance activities are done at the right time in accordance with the plants’ natural life cycle, the weather and other factors. Our aim is to provide professional plant maintenance services which allow your garden to flourish.
